About Me
Gratefully, I grew up in a home where I learned about God; about praying to Him, respecting Him, and doing what He said. But He had more to show me…
When I was 17, I heard the Gospel for the first time in a way that I understood it. I surrendered my life to Jesus, the One who died and rose to give me life. I accepted His invitation to follow Him, even though I didn’t know where He would lead me. He had more to show me.
Over decades, He took me to diverse places and brought me into so many different joyful, inspiring, messy, painful, and instructive relationships. He held me up with His faithful, steadfast love amidst trials that I thought would take me out. But there was more He had for me.
For a long time I lived thinking that life was a series of mounting trials that required me to steel myself long enough to make it to the “finish line” of life and finally be released from it all. Though I do very much look forward to the final redemption, I have found that there is much more freedom and healing available on this side of eternity than I thought possible.
Jesus Himself came with this mission:
“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners…
to comfort all who mourn…
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”
(Excerpts from Isaiah 61:1-3)
